Referees: How do you store your campaign notes, notes for current adventure or just in general?

HI,

I'm currently using a combination of Obsidian (for the note taking) and Zotero (for PDF organization). I found that I needed to organize references from a document in my Traveller library into my campaign notes. Giving the amount of documents I've accumulated over the years I just couldn't quickly find the relevant material when I needed to jump deeper into something during the game. With the Zotero plugin for Obsidian I was able to link to a specific document page and jump to it if needed.

The linking, features and templates within Obsidian are amazing (though some of it's capabilities are a bit over my head).

I use OneNote. Can link to whatever I need. Each campaign has it's one notebook ... and I can access it all on my tablet as well as my PC. Makes it a lot easier to edit and keep track of what happens during the adventure

Here's what I found. If you can get your hands one these, they have a lot of great info.

Challenge Magazine Issue #25 (1986)
Featured articles on campaign structure and adventure design for Traveller referees.
Included tools for balancing encounters and developing subplots.

Challenge Magazine Issue #34 (1988)
Provided practical referee advice, including campaign planning tips and how to handle Jump travel and logistics.
Also offered short adventures and NPCs that could be slotted into a larger campaign.

Challenge Magazine Issue #39 (1989)
Contained the article "Campaigns: From One to Many", which discussed scaling up from solo adventures to more complex campaign arcs.

Challenge Magazine Issue #44 (1990)
Focused on Traveller: The New Era and had deep material on political intrigue and long-term campaign threads.
Included referee tips for sandbox vs. plotted play.

I Googled for Challenge magazine and it was listed as a Communist magazine. That's not a problem but I doubt I'll be able to access the articles you cited. Thanks for the citation anyway.. I do have a growing collection on books that help with running TTRPGs and a small collection for Creative Writing. I acquired a copy of "Wonderbook: The illustrated guide to creating imaginative fiction" today.

It's an investment, but Marc Miller sells the PDFs on CDROM.

Use GDW Challenge magazine as your search parameters...

Individual issues are on sale as pdfs at drivethru, but if you are going to spend more than $35 you are better off getting the cd or USB (or even dropbox) version from MWM at FFE.
