Which makes me wonder how that translates.
I can see some Solomani thinking they're clever and using it as a stealth insult -- until the Vargr catch on.
Although for all we know (or decide), Vargr have words to distinguish monkeys that they use as insults in the same way, and scratch their...
I quite liked all the Vargr artwork; the religious dress, the various ranked costumes and insignia, the consistent aesthetic on various Vargr characters.
And I never say no to colour artwork of the various species, so seeing a Salika depicted was nice.
Good stuff! I'm liking the two new adventures; they make good use of some of the more interesting established lore in the Rift. Salika and doomsday Vargr.
I know this is about non-sophonts, but both the Dishaan and the Gl'lu are examples of sophont species descended from intimidator stock; that might also give some insight into how intimidators work.
The Dishaan are pure intimidators; they have a "do anything to get ahead" mentality, looking for...
Also, since you've confirmed this is set in the Spinward Marches, it's a long way from Gurungan territory. They don't really travel beyond the Solomani Rim, it seems.
^ A Gurungan might be fun, given their solipsistic attitude and "talking past you" style of communication. Imagining one giving a mission briefing is amusing. Oh so cloak-and-dagger, implicit and indirect. Like she's playing up some odd form of plausible deniability.
Ebokin would be fun too...
A Gl'lu. Who thinks up every possible disastrous outcome and probable mishap, and grimly lists all potential consequences of the mission going wrong (but also how to get back on track in the aftermath). The strategists at the office love hir, the people on the ground hate hir.
This is true, unfortunately. And a lot of the interesting stuff is scattered across multiple sources; not always practical or possible to access if you're not a completist.
I still await the "Great Hiver Manipulator Campaign" set in the general region...
I might suggest something different -- the trailing regions. Gateway, Crucis Margin, Glimmerdrift Reaches, Hinterworlds, Leonidae.
Lots of non-aligned space with small world-states and pocket nations, where the superpowers have loose influence or randomised client states, fulfilling that...
It's an amazing resource and a great achievement. I'm so happy to have been able to contribute to it over the last few years. I'm not saying anything new here, but as ever -- thank you for all the work you put into it.
You're probably a couple of caffeinated Bwap with a shared ID, honestly...
If you're interested in older editions, I'm pretty sure the MegaTraveller core books outline planetary invasion campaigns. I can't be more specific off the top of my head, but I'd start there. The background for MegaTraveller was a big war, and I definitely recall there being some example...
